Security Matters.
Are You Prepared?
Secure your business without breaking the bank!
Ensure all your software is updated regularly - Unpatched vulnerabilities are an attacker’s favorite way to get into your network, which is why you should keep all of your software up to date! Old outdated software is something that should be addressed immediately to prevent any possible holes in security in your business.
Review your security policies - Standard policies should be set across all of your employees when it comes to how to manage data, software, and the network. For example, giving permission to an employee to continue using out-of-date software when everyone else has to keep their system updated is a hole in your security!
Customize your security strategy - Compare what your business has in place to other businesses. All businesses are different and have different scales, but get an idea as to what measures you need to put in place to suit your business, then deploy it.
Train your users - One of the biggest faults in companies’ security is their own employees! Authentication & Availability go hand in hand, which makes common issues like weak passwords or not utilizing two-factor authentication. Your employees should always think security over efficiency, because after all if their system is compromised, that work can be stolen and deleted.
Limit Access - Utilizing the principle of least privilege can make it so that when any “guest” connects to your network you stay secure. People like contractors, partners, vendors, customers, and anyone else who logs onto your network could inadvertently put your network at risk.

Choose security products and services wisely - The number of security vendors out there can be overwhelming. This is why you have to do a bit of research as to what programs and services you can trust, we recommend not choosing anything that is new and has no reputation for reliability.

Strive for the best, but prepare for the worst. - Your new and improved security strategy can lower the odds that you’ll be attacked, but there’s never a guarantee. We recommend always having a disaster recovery plan just in case.
Document everything - Keep your security measures documented. If your business is small and you have one person running your IT department and they leave, you’ll be left wondering what state your security is in. Keep all policies and rules documented, so you don’t have to scramble.
Rise and repeat - Continuously run through this list, and keep your business safe!
