The Risks Of End-Of-Life Technology…

What is End-Of-Life Technology?

According to ABC services, simply put, End-of-Life technology is the date when a vendor stops delivering standard support services for a particular product. Traditionally this includes voice and electronic technical support, hardware and software upgrades, and support for new and known defects (PTFs, service packs, and updates), in addition to everyday usage and zeroing in on pinpointing and resolving technical problems.

Lack Of Reliability

One of the biggest issues with out-of-date technology is it’s not reliable. To put it in perspective, one of the biggest issues now is the continued use of the Windows 7 Operating System. This operating system was great when it was released, but it has since been discontinued, leaving companies who still want to function on it with serious downtime due to software, and incompatible hardware issues.

Compromised Security

When you use old firmware, you are no longer being provided the security updates you need to prevent things like being hacked. Apart from defending your systems from hackers, you will have no bug fixes, or patches, leaving your computer in the dust of the new age. Of course, this causes tons of downtime in your office, causing a massive loss in the long run.

Higher Operational Costs

Contrary to what you may believe, it actually costs more to keep the old equipment in your office. This is because the costs associated with keeping them running are higher in the long run.

For example:

  • Lost/Stolen Data

  • Updating and Maintaining with Third Parties

  • Legal Liabilities

  • Loss Of Revenue From Downtime

We want to help you get your business back on track. Whether that means conducting routine check-ups on your practice’s IT infrastructure, or getting new systems and firmware installed, you can rest assured you won’t have to experience these possible extra charges and company downtime.
